Grace and peace be multiplied unto you from God the Father and The Lord Jesus Christ.
Florence and I thank God every time we remember you and want you to know that we really appreciate your love and support over the last year. So far it has been an interesting journey and the Lord has proved Himself Faithful even in difficult situations. We are grateful to Pastor David and Stacey and to all our key leaders who have worked alongside us.
Last year in the month of June, I shared the vision for IIC which The Lord had showed me on the 1st of July 2006. Many of you responded positively and affirmed your commitment to make this become a reality. As a reminder the mandate The Lord has given IIC is to be:
* A Family Friendly Church
* An Effectively Discipled Church
* A Contagiously Generous Church
* A Passionately Mission-Minded Church * An Intimate and Intercessory Church
Very early on this journey, it became very evident that we needed to cultivate a Kingdom Culture in which authentic disciples are made. The reality is that the prevailing culture of any church will either nurture the vision or kill it. As a result, cultivating the right culture is currently the main focus and we will continue to emphasis this in this second year of my leadership.
The New Testament gives a clear indication that Kingdom thinking and living was the approach Jesus took when He called the first disciples to follow Him (Matthew 11:25-30; Luke 10). He emphasised what the Kingdom of God was and invited them into a relationship with His Heavenly Father. These ordinary men, although, at times they demonstrated a lack of understanding they were
changed. As a result of this, they embraced the Vision of Jesus to preach the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. I am excited about the future as we seek more and more to live as Kingdom people who are changed by His amazing love. We will also be effective instruments in the Fathers hands to change our world through the power of the Gospel.
In the past year, a great majority of you who have stayed have encouraged us to continue to move forward. A few have left to other parts of the country, or the world, because of work. Others have moved on to serve in other fellowships in the town. Also, over the last year we have had the opportunity to actively partner and develop our Romanian Fellowship which is growing to the glory of God. We have also birthed our Portuguese fellowship which is still in its infancy. We have had the blessing of people being saved and baptised and many others are continuing on their journey of maturity. The Lord has used many of you as you continue to give of your skills, time and finances to the work here at IIC.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but it will not be done in our own strength. The past year has been a time of settling into the role. It has also been a time to learn many things and to get to know people better. God willing this next year we will go up another gear as we follow the Holy Spirit. There will be many opportunities to serve The Lord and see His Kingdom grow. There will no doubt be challenges and the enemy will seek to distract us. I encourage you however to remain steadfast. Always abounding in the work of The Lord and abiding in His Love for one another and the lost.
Finally, can I encourage you all to support the Healing services on the Fridays in June. We are believing for an encounter of The Lord’s presence as we take hold of His provision for our wholeness. Please check the bulletin for the details.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all and enjoy the sun when it comes out.
